It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

I bought Divine & Beyond Divinity some time ago here on gog.
Now i hear something about a "updated" version of both games.
Do i need to redownload the whole games or just the "universal update" file ?

Just the updates should be fine.

At least with DD when it was first updated some people had a problem with the 'universal update' patch and ended up redownloading the full install file, but that should be sorted out by now. If you do have a problem, though, the new release of BD includes some performance improvements, Vista/7 compatibility fixes and support for higher resolutions and widescreen aspect ratios. For DD there is not much difference, mostly just a slightly better configuration program and multi-language support.

Thanks for the answer !

What is the installation order ?
game exe -> universal update exe -> language patch exe ?

And will i now be able to play both games in 1366x768 ?

Yes, that is the correct order, though if you download the full game installer you wouldn't need the universal update.

Yes, you should be able to play both games at any resolution your monitor supports.
There is a font patch for DD (Larger fonts for high resolutions), as well as BD (font enlargement patch). I don't know if anyone has tried the BD font patch in the updated version of BD, but I don't think the folder structure was changed, so it should still work. I should probably check that...
Thanks again !

But how to you mean that: "though if you download the full game installer you wouldn't need the universal update" ?

I downloaded the full game installer some time ago, so maybe its not the "updated" version.
I would wish that gog would give more informations about updated games...
Since you downloaded the previous versions full installers, you should just need the universal update patches and language packs for DD and BD.

If you download the current full installer for either, you would not need the universal update patch, just the language pack. The universal updates are intended to update the previous versions to the new ones, which were added 3 or 4 weeks ago.

PS Sorry for the delay replying. I couldn't post from Opera last night, and could not log in in Firefox or IE (Opera had the password saved and I could access my games, messages, etc fine, just not post), so I thought it might have been a problem with the site. Resetting my password and clearing Opera's cache fixed it.

For what it's worth, the universal updater did not work on my old gOg version, which displayed as 1.004 or 1.004a (I don't remember which). The new complete version installed fine, and here's hoping it fixes the periodic crashes and a couple lock-ups. I'll test for those fixes tonight.
When i try to download the universal patch for Divine Divinity , I receive a message that there is incompatibility between the patch and the game installed on my hard disk.
Does this mean that i have to redownload the game from the beginning?
Can i keep my savegames?
Is the version available now on gog patched with the universal update or do i have to download the game firstly and then download and install the patch?
Is the downloadable version of the game 1.004a as mentioned on the readme file on the version I downloaded recently or the 1.005a named on the main menu or perhaps some other?
Thank you in advance for your patience and your help. Waiting for further enrichment of your catalogue.
Check the version number in the bottom right corner of the screen in the main menu for the game (the readme file has not been updated since the original download release). If you want the slightly better configuration program or multi-language support in the latest version (1.0061a), then you will need to re-download the full install if the patch doesn't work on the earlier download releases (1.004a / 1.005a). If you don't need one of the language packs, though, you could simply stick to your current version.

You can keep playing with your existing saves if you install the new version.

The full download is the latest version, and does not need the patch.
You can keep your saved games, but... I did have a problem with the last / freshest save from the old version: I couldn't attack and the enemies didn't care one bit that I was waltzing around their stomping grounds. I rolled back to the next newest save and that problem went away.

Since updating I've had just one crash / lock-up, a big improvement from before.
