Been exploring the wasteland looking for a dragon. At first, I thought WTF with the imps - then I remembered the new track of skills and one of the ones I had trained to level 1 in killed regular imps in a single blow (more advanced imps aren't damaged by it) and the cocktail elemental spell (even at level 1) worked on the higher level imps that divine destruction (?) didn't work on. The sand creatures are much harder but the same cocktail spell had been working while a death knight kept them busy (and best of all, resurecting a sand demon or horror). Now, the question. Just came across what appears to be a normal sand demon except - nothing hurts it. Can that happen via "roll of the dice" or am I possibly experiencing a glitch? I've gone through at least six death knights and used some 15 super magics and the demon is hardly damaged (I'd say 1/50th at most). I tried most every offensive spell my character had learned but nadda.

PS - my character is a pure mage so using hardware or scorpion traps isn't an option.

Sounds like a glitch. Try a bow, or spells that do physical damage (Hell Spikes, Deadly Disks). Try the survivor's Curse skill on it a few times, and then poison or elemental damage, or spells like Polymorph that can be blocked by spiritual resistance.
Or just run past it.

I'm more inclined to run past. My mage is equipped with a very nice Elvan bow with trecovery of "4" so I'll give that a whorl before I cut and run though. I probably could get to the Black Lake now - I have level 2 spirit form, but wanted to find that dragon that Zandalor said could train me higher. Really, I could avoid all fights at this point, I think, I'm something like level 43 and spirit form makes that easy but, well, I'm not bored with the game so I haven't done that.

Go to the far north of the Black Lake, then maybe a little west, or from the abandoned town, follow the cliff face to the north east. Even level 1 is enough to get past the swamp, though (or you can throw a teleporter pyramid). You can get experience talking to the dragon, though, and possibly a decent axe, depending on your dialogue options.

Thanks. Currently trying to figure out those spectral lords - I materialized some place and three attacked and I didn't fare to well. Coming back from a save to experiment with different ways of fighting them (divines can't be killed after all :) ). I was searching the Larian site for something else and came across a discusion you answered many years ago about missing pyramids. I found zixzax after he borrowed them to be used in "original sin" :) and didn't have any problem running into him again and getting them back. However, you mentioned that even if you failed to get them, they could be recovered in the wastelands and showed where. While I didn't find them in the wastelands, I do recall seeing three of them on pedestals in one of the dungeons. I was not able to grab them. OK, long intro but, are those three (possibly in Elona's dungeon or the one with the elvan warlock of the Black Ring - Dwarf Halls I think) another possibility if I were to lose one of the pyramids in some way?

There are some fixed teleporter pyramids somewhere (Iona's dungeon?), but they can not be taken.

The only pyramids you can get in-game are the original pair (with Lanilor giving you the first), and the replacement anchient pyramids after you enter the wastelands (if you have the teleporter pyramids with you, they are swapped out directly, otherwise they are placed near the start of the wastelands).

If you lose a teleporter pyramid and can not find it by using the other, a file swap procedure could give you a replacement set (Lost Items - guide and directory of inventory files).
