Does anyone know a way to utilize a mouse view mode where i can use my wheel to zoom in without changing my up/down perspective? Or perhaps go 1st person mode without looking up at the sky, LOL? Most of the time, the camera control is fine to do everything with, and I like being able to pan around my toon at will, but I keep hoping there's other alternatives or modes that let me change the way it works. Camera controls in these kinda games are never perfect, whether you are playing Skyrim, Two Worlds or Neverwinter Nights. There's always something that's going to be a bit awkward. (and why isometric games like Baldur's Gate and Divine Divinity will remain classics. They take camera control probs out of the equation) But was hoping someone might have a suggestion of two, who is more familar with D2DC/DKS than I.

Also, does everyone else have an easy time with the targeting? Is it just a matter of working the target lock controls to stay on what ya want? I'm trying to stay off the keyboard as much as possible, cos I'm such a clumsy typist. Mebbe I just need a mouse with more programmable buttons. For targeting and quick items both, I guess. I'm kinda mouse oriented, so I like to click on stuff to make things happen. Or mebbe tactical pause is my friend. Any ideas or suggestions?

Again, I'm really having a ball with the Dev Cut. I've never played it/DKS/Ego Draconis before, and it's lots of fun. Just a couple of things I find a bit cumbersome at first, is all. No game is perfect, but kudos to Larian for making games as good as they do. Thx guys.

Unfortunately on the PC I think the camera just has the linked zoom/angle system.
On the Xbox the camera direction is freely adjustable, but the distance fixed. With D2:ED there was a default distance, or it would zoom into an almost over the shoulder view when Target Lock was used; in DKS the camera distance was moved in closer (which was better most of the time, but in D2:ED there were times I wanted to zoom in, and in DKS times I would have liked to zoom out) and Target Lock no longer had an effect.

I haven't had a chance to download D2:DC yet, but I'm not a big fan of WASD controls, so I think I'll eventually try using a gamepad for the majority of functions.

The only problem with pause in the PC version is you can not Target Lock when paused. On the Xbox I found it handy with groups or sometimes in Boss fights to be able to pause, lock onto a specific opponent (healer, lowest health opponent, etc) and come out of pause using a special attack (regular melee/ranged attacks don't unpause the game). Oh well, I'm sure I'll manage.

You can still use skills and stuff on them while paused, you just have to physically click them with your mouse to target them. It can get a little tricky to click the correct one, though, especially if they're all standing on top of each other.
Very interesting. TY for the info, guys. I'm wondering if what these games don't really need is some kinda foot rudder control or something to do all this properly. A game would kinda have to be designed with that in mind though, I guess. Wild.
