I've only just started playing DD and I'm digging it so far (even though it's perhaps slightly different to what I'm used to), but I thought I'd get a couple of things cleared up before I moved too far along in the game.

Firstly, how can I be sure that I'm running the latest version of the game? Whenever I check my save files, although it says "Version 1.005A", the save file description gives it as "V 0.935". I only ask because I got a little suspicious when I came across a few spelling mistakes early in the game, that I assume would have been fixed in the latest patch. I also came across a glitch whereby, upon opening a barrel, the sound effect (for opening it) got stuck in a continuous loop, where it was playing over and over again even after I exited the game.

Secondly, is there any option to fast travel across the world map? (I know, I know, I've been spoiled by games in the past :P). I've had the teleporting system explained to me, but I was just wondering if there was any other way (even if it were just something akin to the striders in Morrowind).
v1.005A is the updated gog version. The '0.935' is the save file format version.

There is no fast travel on the main map, just the teleporter pads and stones. A frog statuette would allow you to run fairly fast, though. Statuettes are available for purchase randomly and possibly dropped as loot (both rare), or a frog statuette can be found after you do the quest to get access to Nericon's garden. For merchants, check Kistandalius or Blake in Ars Magicana and Corinna or Mpenzak in Verdistis (any NPC may have one, but these are more likely).
