Hello

So I've purchased the game, downloaded and installed it, but a small screen pops up asking me about screen resolution before the game actually launches. The problem is that the game will not launch regardless of what options I choose and apply.

Is this a known issue? I've uninstalled and deleted the game then re-downloaded and installed again but it doesn't matter.

Thanks for any help

Sorcery: a small screen pops up asking me about screen resolution before the game actually launches.
Try running the configtool.exe program in the Beyond Divinity install folder by right clicking on it and selecting 'Run as administrator'. After you set the game resolution and click on 'Apply & Close' does that (after a few second delay) start the game?

If that doesn't help, try right clicking the div.exe file, select Properties and switch to the Compatibility tab and try Win9x or XP compatibility mode (it should already be set to always run as administrator, and 'disable display scaling on high DPI settings').

In the '..\Beyond Divinity\Static' install folder, try renaming the intro.mpg video (you can watch it in Windows Media Player, etc). That can avoid startup problems.

Setting the game resolution and desktop resolution the same can avoid some startup problems (minimizes DirectX's resolution switching).

Are you shutting down all non-essential programs (especially anti-virus) before trying to start the games?

Check if there are files called debug.lst or error.txt in the Beyond Divinity folder. If so, do they list any error messages than might be helpful?

With the disk version of the game, a couple people had a problem crashing on startup when creating the configuration files, but if the files already existed the game loaded fine. If you want to try, here is a link to download my configuration files. Extract the zip file into the Beyond Divinity folder and try starting the game. You can edit the config.div file in Notepad first to change the resolution (set for 1600x900).
