Hi.

I have installed Divinity: Original Sin on a Win 8.1 64bit machine. This is my first install, so there were no updates, mods or old saves involved.

When I go to the Additional Content I can see Source Hunter (I don't have it) and The Bear and the Burglar (should be available as part of the game) listed, both unchecked.
I, however, cannot check the Bear and the Burglar box, which seems to be the way to go.

There are several reports of this happening on September, when the DLC was released, but none seems to indicate how they solved the issue, or if they ever did.

Is this happening anew in recent patches? Is there anything that can be done to fix this?

Edit: I checked the "Verify files integrity" option when installing the game, so it is not a case of a corrupted installation.

Edit 2: After talking to support, I realized where the problem lied.

I run my system from a non-privileged account, and the installer requested admin permissions to start the installation. It was, thus, run from the admin account, as far as the installer could tell. During the installation process it did create the file Documents/Larian Studios/Divinity Original Sin/DLC/322490 in the admin account's documents directory, but not for the other users in the system.

To solve the issue, run the game from your usual account so it creates your save directories, exit it and create the directory DLC and file 322490 in it.

To really fix this, I guess Larian should modify the game so that it creates the DLC files when ran, instead of when installed. This way, all accounts in a system will have it properly detected, instead of only the one from which the game was installed.

Thanks to everyone who helped discovering this =)

Elideb: ...
Have you used the most recent version of GOG's version (setup_divinity_original_sin_2.13.0.24.exe)?
This bug was supposed to be fixed with an earlier update.

Yep. It is exactly that installer version. I downloaded it just two days ago...

By the way, I've tried uninstalling the game, removing the game's saved data and installing again. But the result was the same. Then I placed back the old saved info, just in case, to no avail.

Seems like you're not the only one today. I haven't re-downloaded and tested it yet (quite a package to download ;-), but I suggest sending a ticket to support. If it needs to be patched again, the sooner they know of this issue the better.
D:OS got flagged as updated overnight for me, but there's no sticky thread. Hmmmm. I wonder if this has anything to do with anything.

Seems not to be connected to Elideb's problem, since officially it was an update for the Mac version only. Thanks for the input, mothwentbad! No update flag here by the way. I hope the whole update notation system will be fixed in the near future. It's clearly suboptimal at the moment.

I got an update flag too so came over to see why but don't see anything.
I hope its not just me feeling dumb but I wish this stuff wasn't so confusing or complicated.
Since one person above did get a flag and one didn't, and everything else looks the same on the game download page, safe to assume it was a mistake?

You can not manually enable or disable DLC in the 'Additional content' window. The companion DLC should be automatically added and enabled in the latest GOG installer.

Check your '..\Documents\Larian Studios\Divinity Original Sin' folder. Is there a 'DLC' folder there? If necessary, create the folder yourself, and add a zero byte file (a new text file, or something) named '322490' (no extension; you might need to change the option in Windows Explorer to show extensions for known file types). After that try starting the game again and see if The Bear and the Burglar DLC is enabled.

Thanks for the info! Though that's not very intuitive. Lots of things have gone wrong since D:OS' release, if you ask me. Questions stays, why isn't the DLC checked as active in the first place, if it's included in the installer?

Apparently there is either a problem with the installer (and GOG will presumably add a DLC installer like they did for the Mac version, rather than update their full installer and necessitate a re-download), or there was just a conflict or problem on your system (haven't seen any other reports of this on Windows).

Yep, after that D:OS now lists the DLC with the check. However, the solution is rather convoluted. I'll open the support thread, anyway, in case there is something wrong with the installer.

Regarding the "update notice", I also got it, but went to the page and saw nothing changed in the game versions or filenames. Could it have been a change to the GOG extra content? I had an update notice for The Witcher, too. And I could not see anything new, either.

It seems it was an update for the Mac version.
For those interested, the source of the problem has been detected. The original post up there has been updated with the explanation.
