I know BD gets a bum rap, and it's mostly deserved, but I'm a masochist and am trying to get through the game anyway. Here's the problem.

After moving from act 2 (the imp village) to act 3, I noticed that all the unique artifacts I'd previously picked up that are part of "sets" had become generic "bone" equipment. For example, the breastplate of fire (part of the lord of fire set or whatever) became a set of bone armor. Same with the marksman's gloves, which became bone gloves. I've no idea whether it's only the item name that's bugged (and the underlying item still works as intended) of if the item itself has actually been altered. I assume this must be a bug, and, if so, it's sucks, since getting artifact sets is one of the few points of interest I've identified in this game so far. Has anyone else encountered this, and, if so, is there any fix? Thanks in advance.

I can't give you a definite fix but . . . there was a known bug with the BD inventory that could be fixed by setting the shortcut compatibility to "Windows 98 / Windows ME". That bug was concerning the items not being in the right slot (i.e sword in the shield slot). Although changing the compatibility fixed the problem the saves were corrupted and a new game had to be started.

Also, make sure you have the shortcut compatibility tab "Run this program as an administrator" checked since some disk writes can be blocked if this is not done. If you did not right click the setup.exe and click "Run as an administrator" . . . this could be causing some disk writes to be blocked as well and a uninstall / reinstall would be my recommendation. Win 7 seems to run the game better if it is installed in a directory outside of Program Files as UAC tends to regularly block some disk writes in that directory.

I am not quite where you are yet (I can't seem to get into playing the game) and have not had any problems like you describe but . . . =)

Thanks for the suggestions, unfortunately they don't really apply to me. I'm running XP and changed the compatiability options before I started playing (I did my research and heard about the inventory bug). So it looks like I've run into a new one. As I said, it occured upon switching from chapter 2 to chapter 3. I'd be interested in knowing if you run into it if you get that far.

If I run into similar issues I will post them here . . . =)
