Hello when I use health pots when fighting they take health instead of giving some, restore health spells kill my characters instantly. what the hell good are pots and spells if you can't use them while fighting? When in battle enemies take way more turns than my crew, plus when it says its my turn, I can't get the character to do anything and the enemies give 2-3 hits then I get 1 turn and the enemies again get several turns. I have played turn based before but it was not like this. I can sort of understand the multi turns, but why do I take hits when it clearly says its my turn?
Are you playing an undead?

Enemies having more turns could be initiative bonus for high wits.

Taking hits when it's your turn could be attacks of opportunity (if you walk too close)
or archers have a skill that hits the first person to walk into a marked area.

Thanks for the reply. I am not undead, don't know about the enemies wit but my crew are all 14+ wits, do you know what level my initiative bonus turns start? It is archer's taking the shots from afar, most times 2-3 in a row. I have 2 archer's in my crew but do not get any bonus shots. I knew about the walking by hits, understand those OK. Its a bit frustrating for me when it happens, makes me curse out loud, my wife keeps telling me that at age 65 I should have more control.

It's been a while since I played this, but if your not undead, then standing in cursed blood will cause healing potions to harm you, or more likely someone used the decaying touch skill on you, which has the same effect.
There should be some sort of icon showing if your character has been struck with it.
Fortify, I think negates it.

The archer skill I was referring to is called reactive shot, you may not have come across it yet.
It lets you mark a circle on the ground and if anything enters the circle before your next turn you can shoot the first 3 enemies to enter, while it's still their turn.

There's a lot to learn in this game, so it takes a while, but your wife sounds like a very sensible woman.

Thanks for the reply. That helps a lot, now I know why it happens I can try to avoid it. Hope to find reactive soon. Your right about the wife, one of the reasons we are approaching our 30th year together.
