I already solved this issue, however it was a lot of headaches to find the culprit.
I wasn't able to host any games or directly connect to someone else's game, however running the game on LAN, I was able to join (not using the invite system). I was also able to join other games through the game's multiplayer lobby browser or if someone sent me the invite through GoG chat. It appears that just hosting it has problems when on the D drive and the Invite Player button does nothing when you click on it. This also occurred when I installed the game on another computer as well (which I was using as the second player testing the LAN).
I suspect the issue is that the invite players option might have it hard coded for the C drive so there is likely an error being thrown in the background that we can't see.
Moving the game to the C drive fixed my issue (and reinstalling it back on the D drive brought it back). Would be appreciated if this could be fixed in a future update.
