No, short of using a program like AntiMicro to have the gamepad function as a mouse (but I suspect that isn't quite the effect you had in mind).

No, it's not. It would have been better even if keyboard commands had been assigned to character movement so they could have been mapped to the gamepad. It's unfortunate the input is so binary between gamepad and all other input devices in this game.
That's a shame. Really something you should consider fixing in the future...
