I've seen some posts before in the past and only one recently, so I can only assume there aren't many people with this issue.

Me and a friend used to cross play Div2 with them being on Steam and myself on GoG. Used to work fine, but now all we get is connection error when we try to join.

We've both tried hosting, direct connect, discord game invite (what we used in the past and works fine) and even Hamachi but nothing seems to work.

What I have found online that people find they fix the issue don't seem to for us (firewall and using Hamachi). We have both uninstalled the game and installed fresh version to see if that would help.

We both even tried joining randoms on the online server list for our retrospective platforms and both of us are able to join fine, so I get the feeling it's a cross play specific or Galaxy issue in my case.

Has anyone found a way? I'm annoyed we cannot finish our play through on a game we both really enjoy.

Have you tried joining another GOG player using Direct Connection or Discord invites, or can your friend join other Steam players that way?

Can you try connecting through a different network, if available (a VPN, or mobile phone's hotspot feature, etc)?

Try going into Arena mode, create an arena, open the Connectivity menu and check the settings, then exit to the main menu and try joining. Alternately, create a multiplayer game lobby, exit and try joining.

If you are both using Windows, can you connect in the Classic version of the game?

If you didn't already do so, try resetting your network adapters:
- click Start (or Search in Win 10), type cmd into the search box, right click Command Prompt and select run as administrator.
- type the following command and hit Enter
netsh winsock reset
- when that is done, there should be a message 'Winsock reset completed successfully'
- type exit and hit Enter, then reboot your computer.

Same problem here. Connecting via VPN worked, but only for a week or so. Now we are stuck again with the same problem.

[[[ THE CROSS PLAY DONT WORK. ]]]

Since everybody play this game on steam, if you are willing to play multiplayer, i highly recommend you to get it on steam instead.

If you are really willing to play with someone on steam, then you have to use a vpn (hamachi is free and very easy to use)
but beware, expect lags, and connextion problems.

Ive spend 2 hours trying to play with someone from steam, and after we figured the hamachi method. we where able to get to the character creation page together but when the game started we just had an infinite blackscreen.

So i had to create a solo-multiplayer game, then finish the tutorial, get to the first city, get a compagnion, and finally he was able to join... but not with his custom character... awsome...

Today ive 'only' spent 2 hours trying to find another player, but guess what ? most of them like to use mods, once again you are in trouble since the steam workshop mods are obviously not avalible on the gog version.

Also, some players dont trust hamachi and will simply refuse to install it.

Btw, just want to make it clear, im not against GoG, i wish more people would leave steam, but when something dosent work, it must be clear.
