My friend has DOS2 on steam and I have it here on GOG. When trying to join a game of his via Direct Connection code it gives me a Connection Failed error. Oddly, he can join me just fine if I'm hosting, and when we played a few days ago I was able to join his game just fine.

Neither of us have changed any firewall settings. We're both running the most recent version of the game (3.4.54.8890). He opened his game to both invites and to all parties. Other people were able to join him, as was a friend of ours with DOS2 on GOG. I've restarted the game, and my PC. We've tried reloading the game on his end and using new direct connect codes. I'm running windows 7.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try joining in a new game? If that works, can your friend then load the latest save from your current playthrough?

If your friend sends you the latest save you could try hosting.

Did you try Direct Connection with an IP address, rather than Server ID?
You could try Discord invites, if you use that program.
LAN may be an option, but since you are not on the same local network, it would require VPN software, such as Hamachi or Tunngle.

It wouldn't hurt to try resetting your network adapters, though if there were no local networking changes, it could be a case of ISP changes / issues or throttling traffic leading into the weekend, etc.
- click Start (or Search in Win 10), type cmd into the search box, right click Command Prompt and select run as administrator.
- type the following command and hit Enter
netsh winsock reset
- when that is done, there should be a message 'Winsock reset completed successfully'
- type exit and hit Enter, then reboot your computer.
