How do you complete the tutorial? There are no tutorial messages after sending out the adventurers and defeating the imps.

That's a bug and the devs are working on it. Normally the tutorial should continue after that section.

Hey there, we've got a Beta branch out right now on both Steam and GOG with a potential fix.
If all is well, we'll be able to release it in a full patch tomorrow.

The tutorial is still broken. There is no progress after painting quarters. Another two hours wasted. I will uninstall the game and try it again after the release.
