So I just followed the instructions here (support . gog . com/hc/en-us/articles/4408596960797-Disco-Elysium-The-Final-Cut-M1-compatible-version?product=gog) and it seemed to work just fine. Basically if you launch the game with GOG Galaxy it'll use the Rosetta version, but if you install with GOG Galaxy and then launch the game through the Application menu on your Mac it should launch the M1 version. Just tested it and it seems to totally work for me. When I check the program in Activity Monitor, it says it's an Apple program

[sorry for the goofy link above. GOG wouldn't let me just post the link]

crissnyder: First hope was that an updated package had appeared on GoG. "...56555.pkg". Still required Rosetta to install, though. I, too, am confused by this requirement.
It seems like packages produced by installer specify the architecture they support, so while Installer can support both, whoever creates that package needs to explicitly state it support Apple Silicon architecture, otherwise it'll run with Rosetta.

Seems like that's just an oversight in this case - given that all GOG installers show GOG EULA and use similarly the same script to locate installation folder - I suspect GOG produces them, not the developer. I'll try to reach out to GOG support, won't hold my breath it'll get fixed.

Glad it all worked out though!

moloscimmia: but if you install with GOG Galaxy
That's right.

In the discussion above we were trying to install and run in without Rosetta 2 at all. GOG Galaxy itself requires Rosetta 2 at the moment.

However if Rosetta 2 if not an issue - GOG Galaxy can be used to install or a normal offline installer can run without problems.

Is it possible to launch the M1 version from GOG? Even more technical solutions like editing files to point to M1 version?

I sync my saves between my M1 macbook and my PC. To sync with M1 version, I need to launch the game from GOG first, which means Rosetta, then close the game. Then I need to launch the game from Applications to launch the M1 version which would now have the latest save.

I've tried syncing without launching from GOG but it doesn't pull the latest game save from the cloud.

I still try to install the Apple Silicon version of this game from gog but without success.

If I install the game via gog galaxy I get the intel version (see screenshot)

If I try to install it via the offline installer macos does not let me do it.

If I do the "terminal unpack trick" it also gets installed as intel version.

Any new ideas how to get the Apple Silicon version from gog.com?

BTW: other games (e.g. factorio) run as apple silicon when installed from gog galaxy.
