Is there any compromise for the GOG version or it should work the same as Steam?

I'm not entirely sure what you mean, but the GOG version seems to get patched incredibly frequently, which leads me to believe there is no major disparity between Steam and GOG.

Nop, it's even better because you can boot the game without the necessity of use any launcher.
