Okay. So I have started playing the first disciples and kinda liked it through the tutorial. Now however, I have started the dwarf saga, where I have to conquer 55% of the map. Problem is, my ally already conquered most of the map. He also seems to be stronger than me, so I wouldn't really like to attack him. Anything I can do to solve this situation?
Noone? Nothing? So am I just supposed to backstab my ally? :O
That would be the best way, though it might be wise to reduce your common enemies to it's capital first then start to backstab your ally, or you can pit your enemy and your ally to battle and hope your enemies win, then you kill you enemies.
In Theory you can just set Rod after Rod until your "grothvalue" is higher but this will a painfull long and boring process.

Aside from this...expect for longtime sagaalliances the Ki break the alliance anyway if your armys are the only left to fight.
Since it's the first mission of that saga you might want to just start over. It's possible to get stuck where you have to break the alliance, but if you try to make sure you're the one that grabs the towns (and perhaps with some help from planting rods on the isolated islands) you should be able to make your quota without doing so.

Try to rescue the leader that you've got in the one town that's about to be attacked at the start, too. You pretty much can't hold the town but you can evacuate and make use of the few extra units it gives you.
You don't need all that many rods provided you got the two towns near your capital.

When i did it, i had to put the final number of rods near the evil capital, that was fun!

I did restart the mission but only because i did not like the upgrade choices i had made. I then made sure i retook the third town in the middle which you have to loose at the beginning. But then i won the mission before i had maxed out the experience of my main hero which was annoying, but the next mission gives you plenty of time to max out experience so it didn't matter.
