The crash appears when I clic the "begin" button after the first mission briefing.
I run Windows 7 x64
I tried various compatibility modes : Win XP SP2 , Win 98 , as Admin ... no change.
btw.. the game generated a log file named "Disciple.exe.crash.txt" .
When I attempt to attach it to this post, I receive the error "wrong file format". nothing here tells me which format is expected, so I'm a bit puzzled.
( same error received if the txt file is ziped first )

Report it to gog.com service, and give dxdiag.
Maybe the trouble is connected to Win 7. I'm playing now Disciples, and i found a difference between the game i start from the icon in "game" folder and the one from the icon in "Gog" folder. With the second I had problem like some crash, with the first not.

Rise from the dead.

I've just purchased the game and I have the same problem with Vista 64.

I've sent Disciple.exe.crash.txt (had to rename it as a jpg) and the appcrash info to gog.
The following solved this for me:

Run config.exe (it is in the disciples gold directory).
Check: Use Direct Draw (faster).
Click Save.

Thanks! That helped! Had this exact issue. I had to check Direct Sound too. I'm on Vista x64 for anyone else with this issue.
