I was curious and saw a few copies of this game for decent enough prices on ebay. When I checked on PCGamingWiki it said that the game was copy protected by something called ProtectDISC but otherwise they did not really talk about it. Basically I was wondering if the DRM was too intrusive/basically malware in the same way that TAGEs, Starforce, and SECUROM are or if it was more low key nuisance like SafeDisc? I could probably put up with it if it was in that line, if it is anything like Starforce though and it is a hard pass on trying to play it. I may grab a copy just to put on the shelf anyway, like what I did with Titan Quest.

After that it seems that the game has an expack called Resurrection. It seems to have the same copy protection. Anyone have any experience with either of these versions? I was leaning towards Renaissance but if it makes more sense I could grab Resurrection.

For those curious, I have a computer set aside for playing games with disc checks that runs on Windows 7 so no need to be concerned about the fact that updated Windows 7/Windows 10 won't play ball with disc checks.

Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Ermm, cant say for sure about disc protection. It really require disc inserted. And use Kalypso launcher online activation as well 9can be played oflfine after that, offline hash-key stored in AppData, and mroeover it as i remember simple txt file - can be editod and backuped, for such older version of Kalypso launcher drm).

Resurrection is stand-alone game = another game on same engine. They contaign compeltely differ content.
There is another version Rincarnation (Steam only) - but is improved and downgraded at same time.

All 3 - differ games. Literally. And officially.
There is only one patch for retail version and only for Dis3, Resurrection got updates only on Steam.
In Steam Dis3 require steamclinet DRM (there is general solutions for that), Resurrection not require steam at all, but have Kalypso Launcher and activation key.

Thanks for your reply, I appreciate it very much. I probably will pick the physical version up and see how it works on my main setup.

If anyone else sees this and feels they can add anything else I would appreciate that as well.
