Hi All, After some help? My saved game keeps crashing. As soon soon as I load in, nil issues, however if I try go down level 6, up to level 4 or create a town portal as soon as I enter the game crashes and I get an Error reading 'Unable to open save file'

Any ideas how I fix this or do I need to start a new game?

That's a picture of the error, what we need is your save game files.

I've just encounter the exact same issue as the OP. This thing wasn't an issue until I played the game yesterday.

It's in my first reply to this thread. It is the only thing I say in it and all that is being talked about in the following posts as well.

It tells me that I can only attach images to forum posts.

Maybe you can upload it somewhere else and give a link.

I'm horrible with forums, so sorry if this has been solved. Trying to see what the solution is. Send in the save file?
I'm having the same issue. when returning to town, the game has above mentioned error message, and game shuts down.

Is the solution on this forum?
Yes, as stated in the first response in this thread, the next step for anyone affected is to provide the broken save game in a form that Anders (or other interested parties) can download it and inspect it to see what is wrong. There is no self-service solution available at this time, in part because there is too little detail to understand what is wrong. If we knew what was failing, we might be able to give you specific steps you could follow to correct it. It may also be the case that the save is damaged, but that a DevilutionX developer has the tools to repair it.

As also discussed in posts in this thread, the GOG forums do not offer the ability to transfer this save file. You will need to provide it through some other means, such as posting it to a temporary file sharing site (and posting here a link to such download) or, if so invited, attaching it to a Github issue or e-mailing it to an interested party. I suggest not e-mailing it until specifically instructed to do so.

Save files end in .sv (diablo) and .hsv (hellfire). For GOG they will be in the install folder and it's hellfire subfolder.
If you can't find them the try searching for the files on your computer, or be more specific about how you installed and are running the game.
