I purchased the Diablo 1 download 2 days ago, and I have been playing and experiencing quite a few bugs.
1. Game crashes when I attempt to go down into the dungeon whether through a portal or one of the open stairways.
2. Results in having to start over to get the game to be playable again.
3. Today my save game has disappeared. GONE.

Oh well.

Probably you might like to use DevilutionX for playing it since we fixed 200+ bugs (many of them crashes):

There is also a bunch of QoL and better support for modern systems, French translation (if you are that kind of Canadian), working multiplayer, as well as support for running the game on other systems then just Windows.

Hello! I AM back to Diablo 1 Classic after a decade. Unfortunately some spells (playing as a Mage) are now level zero (town portal and Guardian). It isn't expected, right? I have never noticed this happening when I played till Max level using my PsOne nor my PC (CD-ROM).

this can happen if some of your items have a negative effect or you used a shrine that changes spell levels

Oh didn't remember that a shrine could change a spell level to zero. I don't use gear that affects spell levels currently. I Hope I can fix the Guardian level soon. Thanks :)

Enchanted Shrines boost the level of all spells, but drains two levels of one spell (for a net change of decrease by 1), including draining it down to 0. Acquire and consume another book of the affected spell to get its level back up to 1. It is a bit odd to have two different spells both be level zero though.
