Hello,

I just purchased GOG Hellfire.

Installed on Windows 7 x64

I cannot get Multiplayer to work and I've tried many different things.

Cannot get the hellfire patch update to work with x64, only 32/16, so i had to try this:
I attempted windows xp virtual pc mode to install d1/hellfire (gog) so i'd be able to "patch" using the many random links available for the patch. Copy/pasted the files over to my Windows 7.

Obtained the command.txt goodies, obtained a few diff .dll to try from diff sources etc.

I eventually was able to get "multiplayer" to show up on the menu, however it didn't function.

You select multiplayer, it asks you to select a class (2 extra ones are unlocked), make a name, hit enter- then it pops a red box/error box with no text and a box in the middle that i assume says okay, or exit, because it goes back to the menu.

I also did get the 4x dll for the ipxwrap thing and still no fix.

Any suggestions? Help? Purely purchased this to play LAN with hamachi or something with a friend.

I genuinely appreciate your guys' time!
No idea, i played Tchernobog mod with ZeroTier One, and i know you can also multiplay The Hell 2 mod, but didn't try with the original game.
Hellfire doesn't support multiplayer, or even have a community. There are some workarounds to get it to work in a limited capacity but why bother.

I would encourage you to play the classic version of Diablo if your looking to play multiplayer. You will need to follow the steps here to successfully connect to battle.net:

soooo

basically, what i had to do was take a mix of GOG diablo/hellfire + a combo install of sierra hellfire.

then, i had to take a conglomeration and awkward blend of bits and pieces of weird bug/mods/fixes/patches and consolidated myself a file-setup that will now allow multiplayer via every method on hellfire (except bnet as its not supported at all)

i have played diablo 1 many, many times - multiplayer and sp - only ever played hellfire sp yeas and years ago, so a friend and i wanted to hamachi hellfire WT.

built my own custom setup/editing in the end into one file/7z that i put on a usb and was able to replicate it very, very easilly on my 2 other computers and connect via hamachi in game 2 players :D

took a lot of work, ngl, but i do hope the WT is fun and mixed version of hellfire is a great WT lmao

i did try d1 multiplayer/standard mode the last few days but servers are not wanting to function for me. meh lol

it DOES support multiplayer, just doesn't work on bnet (blame blizzard)
