I've just lost my brutal (short battle) bow of swiftness in hell16, i was firing hot, lol

I'm in that boat myself. I've played Diablo's "ancestors" (Rogue, Nethack, Angband, Moria) and I can see where the inspiration came from. So I was going to expect it to be brutal. Right now I have a Warrior (Prospero) on hold because he can't seem to get past level 13. without getting ganged by the Steel Lords, and Lava spitters.

So I went with a Rogue (Roisin - pronounced Ro-shen) and I thought I would do well with her, but right now she got through a lot of save-reload to Level 15. Just on the edge of taking on the Archbishop, and I am just just frustrated. 1) I can't get a decent supply of Full Rejuvenation potions in town, and 2) The amount of those Soul Burners with their Doom Lord brethren. So with those two I am using Guardian spell like there's no tomorrow. It's gotten to be like this: Go in...shoot some arrows, cast Guardian run and kite them. Then go back in again. (Town Scroll) get re-supplied, go back in and try to clear the floor. I might just start a new game with the Rogue or Warrior because I was told that's okay. You still retain your gear and experience though.

I usually only play a warrior but maybe ill try a rouge

Sounds like you two need to start using combat tactics. Angles with a bow and spells. Narrow points with melee.

This,
running around corners and just wait at edge hugging the wall, that gives you time to kill the first mob that comes around. Other mobs have to go around the first mob which gives you time to kill the first 1v1. And then the next ond so on, just make sure you dont run into an unexplored room
Also works wonders with rogues and mages versus succubus, their bloodtsars will hit the wall while you can shoot them freely.
Use doorways to bodyblock, so only one mob at a time can enter. Of course doesnt work in level 13+
Stone curse best spell you can have to minimize the number of fighting enemies.

And Golem. Face-tanking enemies who aren't immune to fire in a firewall is also a good strategy. Apart from tactics, this game is a breeze :) Having high health pool definitely makes the game much easier. If you see a helmet of vim or ring of the wolf, grab that. Having 200 HP in Hell feels pretty safe.

Yes golem is underated and always has been, but infact its a superb agro draw and gives you time to kill stuff while attention is focused on the golem.
Yes it dies fast. and yes it doesnt do alot of damage, thats not the point of golem.

and then i've killed diablo with a white long bow, lol

first time in my life that i didn't see that red icon
