no longer asking for a CD and changing the compadabilty to XP SP2 stopped it from full screen black screen and minimizing and now just sits on a black screen.
setting it to 98/me does the same thing.

After getting it to work, it appears my enter button no longer functions so I can't enable run in town. Any ideas?

I think that Hellfire Enhanced mod and Beli'as Hellfire v1.02.A5 uses the same Marsh's Unofficial Hellfire Mod v1.02.

The difference i noticed, that Hellfire Enhanced uses on the map menu "search" spell, that shows items on the ground.
And in Belix's Hellfire v1.02.A5 there is XP BAR on the bottom.

Anyone else did the comparison? Which one is better (true to the original). I cannot find change-log for Hellfire Enhanced :(

Ok so from what i've found out online as you said Diablo GOG's version does the same thing, I would say contact GOG support, as if it was down to Hellfire then we would of had alot of other issues here, but it sounds like for some reason Diablo doesnt like your system.

Make sure to install a clean install (so no Hellfire or other mods) from the GOG's version before you contact them as they will try various things with you. Try them all. If support cannot get Diablo working then they will offer a refund, if they get it working then try Hellfire again.

I thought Hellfire enabled this automatically and no way to turn it off?

Diablo's gog works it just doesn't run hellfire.

oh no i got two versions the original base cd and the hellfire copy
and the gog version

the CD version runs fine but since i don't have a CD drive anymore i can't get past the cd check screen.
the GOG version runs perfectly but the hellfire screen and the monk character remain missing and doesn't seem to work with this version at all, despite all the adjustments to hellfire i make.

There are ways around the CD issue for Diablo, but I can't link them here.

What OS are you on btw? And i'm assuming your running the newest GOG version, i'm not. So i'll update mine as all I can think as doubtfull as it is that they broke something.

Also try that other link for Hellfire and see if that works instead of Hellfire Enhanced in the meantime.

Ok that shouldn't make a difference. Heres what I have done just now:

1) I went to Diablo on GOG and downloaded setup_diablo_1.09_v4_(27989).exe.

2) I installed it to the default C:\GOG Games\Diablo

3) I then ran setup from my Hellfire CD (by right clicking the CD clicking open then launching setup.exe

(And installed it to its default C:\SIERRA\HELLIFRE (I also checked Hi-res.) I didn't install any demos, clicked OK to the install message that comes up, clicked OK again, then NO about updates, then OK again, then REGISTER LATER, followed by NO for the read me, followed by FINISH.)

4) Now i'm removing my Hellfire CD.

5) Then i'm copying the HELLIFRE folder from C:\SIERRA to C:\GOG Games\Diablo (so i'll have a sub folder)

6) Then i'm going to go to CONTROL PANEL, PROGRAMS And FEATURES, and remove HELLIFRE and SIERRA UTILITES. (And clicking NO to rebooting when Sierra Utilities asks me to.)

7) Now i've downloaded Hellfire Enhanced and have exteracted the contents (or copied the contents to) C:\GOG Games\Diablo\HELLIFIRE , replacing anything it wants to.

8) I then ran hellfire.exe from the C:\GOG Games\Diablo\HELLFIRE folder and it runs fine.

I've just sat and done all of that under the latest GOG version (I typed this as I went) and it launches fine for me.

i followed every step and the closet i get to is a full screen cd check followed up by a exe has stopped working after clicking ok.

Alright. Give me a few days and i'll hook up my Windows 7 machine and try it (as i'm running Windows 10) it might be a issue with Windows 7.

If someone else has other ideas then feel free to drop by in the mean time.

so i ran a check if i run hellfire in 98 mode it gives me a cd check and crashes but if i run without any mode it says DIABDAT is missing however if i put that file into hellfire directory the game just crashes instead.
not sure what else i can do about that.

Is there a way to import my Diablo Multiplayer Character to the Hellfire Multiplayer? I can import my SinglePlayer Diablo character to Hellfire, but i can't seem to do the same with Multiplayers characters into Hellfire... The weird thing is, i have no idea where Hellfire is saving the Multiplayer file, there is absolutely nothing in the Hellfire install folder but the Character is being saved, so where is hellfire storing the Multiplayer file? i'm kinda mind blown because i want to play with one of my buddies, we both played Diablo GOG version to end and were both lvl 30. We don't want to start new characters to play Hellfire.

Any help? i tried the Original Hellfire with the Sierra Patch (v1.01) and also tried hellfire enhanced and still the same issues... I am using Win 10

It seems Hellfire stores the Multiplayer character save file somewhere else, i don't quite understand which exact folder should i be looking for, but according to this:

The save file should be inside C:/Windows but the name of the file changes depending on the name of the network?? that's what i don't understand... i am still having problems understanding what exactly should i be looking for...

I used a tool that checks which files are being created in real time, the tool finds out that there is a file named "hrinfo_0.drv" every time i create a new character inside "C:Windows". But when i try to search for this file through windows itself i can't find it... !? the hell!? so i went in to the game, deleted the character and created a new one, the tool still saw that the file was being deleted/created each time i did In game and still nothing when i try to search for this file... SO WEIRD! So i went into the game again, created two characters and the tool saw in real time two files being created "hrinfo_0.drv" and "hrinfo_1.drv" inside C:Windows/ folder, and when i quit the game and search the folder there was nothing! i am not sure what the hell is going and i am just about to give up.

Ok i think i understand what is going on, the files are actually there, but for some reason Win10 are now showing them... so i deleted every character in game and then went in and copied my multi_0.sv into C:windows and rename it to "hrinfo_0.drv", but still the game refused to read it, i could not see my character in game. So i can understand why hellfire might not become available in GOG, there is just a lot of Technical issues with it.

Its not a bug. savefiles never be 100% compatible.
