in diablo mana shield is supposed to convert 33% damage to mana, i know that there was a bug in hellfire and that devilution fixed it but couldnt find how.
I tested it in hellfire and it converts 100% of damage to mana with rank 1.
100% would give him more effective HP (100% mana+hp) than a barbarian, am i wrong?
Is there any additonal mechanic i didnt see for mana shield?

is it 100% in pvp too?

in diablo 2 you have a higher percentage shield but as a drawback you get more damage to mana. just raising it to 100% without any drawbacks is crazy.

is it at 33% in the non hellfire version of devilution?

something else i wonder about: i can create a bard and a barbarian in normal diablo mode multiplayer, not only hellfire.

What version, initially the same bugfix that was applied to Diablo was applied to Hellfire as well, but later versions reworks it to fix it properly in both games.

Since 1.4.0 it has been corrected to work like this:

End result damage reduction values (based on 100 incoming damage):
SLvl 0 = 0
SLvl 1 = 4
SLvl 2 = 5
SLvl 3 = 6
SLvl 4 = 8
SLvl 5 = 11
SLvl 6 = 16
SLvl 7+ = 33
