Hello!

The D2R team has buffed under performing skills in the game. Posting this as it looks like the information might be of interest to some folks here.

-------------------------------------------------
General Philosophy on Balance Changes

Expand build diversity
Retain class fantasy and specialty
Reduce skill casting delays
Make quality of life changes to tool tips
Review underused skills

General Philosophy - Reaction and Thoughts

Overall it's exciting to see that they are focused on maintaining the atmosphere and play style of the original game. "This Dev team seems like they really love traditional D2." The main negative reaction in character play remains the desire for more character slots to allow people to play different classes and specs, given the limited ability to respec. Looks so far as though that will not be addressed. Otherwise people seem to be eager to see the update. "Gonna be a bonkers awesome patch, I think!"

Amazon

Improve melee skills
Improve passive and magic skills
Support underperforming bow and crossbow skills

Amazon Changes - Reaction and Thoughts

Melee Amazons being viable in late game will be a welcome change. With better Fend, and Impale that slows on every hit, that might be practical. It would be nice to see more diversity in this class in late game. Overall, people seem to be waiting to see how this getting implemented on the PTR.

Assassin

Buff martial arts
Revisit shadow disciplines
Improve underused trap skills

Assassin Changes - Reaction and Thoughts

We'll have to wait and see what happens with Charge-Up and Finishing skills. With only one Charge-Up consumed per Finishing move, the use of these abilities will be quite different. Making traps other than Death Sentry usable later in the game is interesting. Better Blade Traps! Overall people seem to be talking about this class the most in terms of PvP, especially early in the game. This will be fun to try on the PTR when it comes out.

Barbarian

Diversify combat skills
Improve leap skills
Enhance throwing skills

Barbarian Changes - Reaction and Thoughts

"Throw Barb piercing is gonna be insane!" There's real interest in seeing if Leap now makes more of an appearance, especially late in the game. Maybe we'll have a real reason to put more than one point into Increased Stamina. People seem excited about the changes although a lot of them are tweaks and we'll have to see what comes out on PTR.

Druid

Buff fire skills
Make arctic blast less clunky
Improve shapeshifting
Make less useful summons more viable

Druid Changes - Reaction and Thoughts

Druids "got the most changes overall and feel a lot better." It will be great if we get a working summoner Druid. There was some concern about how changes like big buffs to Fire Claws (and flat thorns damage) might work out in PvP, but buffed ravens and cold wolves are getting a lot of interest. Will we see Druids using creepers in 2.4?

Necromancer

Improve underused summons
Improve bone skills for high level
Weaken skill improvement

Necromancer Changes - Reaction and Thoughts

"Overall we like where the Necromancer is at this point." They are making improvements to Mage and Golem summons. Also, they are looking at ways to make Bone more viable late in the game. This might make the classic path of levelling on Teeth/Bone Spear and Bone Prison more viable after 70.

Paladin

Improve underused combat skills
Scale offensive aura skills better for higher difficulty

Paladin Changes - Reaction and Thoughts

"Overall, Paladin is very strong so no major changes." They did mention Holy Bolt and Fist of the Heavens getting piercing; this is another one that could have a big PvP impact. Again, this will be fun to check out on the PTR.

Sorceress

Diversify cold armor skills
Improve certain lightning and fire skills

Sorceress Changes - Reaction and Thoughts

This is the number one class most people are currently planning to start the ladder off with. Given the new Quick Cast system, using different armors in different situations might be more viable. Despite all the comments during the interview, it doesn't look like they're going to nerf our Teleport. Maybe we'll see more variety in Lightning Sorcs and different Fire builds than either Meteor or Fire Wall.

Or you could do better, and post the link to the actual announcement:

Or you could do even better than that, and post the link to the video where the developers talk about the changes:

But I will also say that this is a Diablo 1 forum for the Diablo 1 game sold on GOG, therefore content related to other Diablo games than Diablo 1 probably shouldn't be posted here at all.

I posted the text for convenience of the reader. This is not the first D2R thread, and I mentioned in my OP that some users that use this sub-forum are also interested in D2R.
I'm interested to see how the amazon comes out. I have a bowazon right now, but she feels kind of weak compared to say my hammerdin or my ww barb.

I don't see how is your plaintext any more convenient than the plaintext on wowhead's page. At least their version has some formatting. Sadly, copypasting full transcriptions of articles is also against forum code of conduct.

The forums are on a per-game basis for a reason. I'm sure there are many other examples where people who played the first game are also interested in the second game in the series, but talking about game A in a forum about game B only creates chaos. There are official forums and reddit and discords focused on D2R, all of them are more appropriate place to talk about D2R.

As if there wasn't enough confusion about D1 already...

I'm glad they buffed bows. I think I'll make 'zon when I'm done with my wolf (I really like archers). It also looks like they're trying to make fire skills in general more viable in higher difficulties, which is another change I'm interested in.

I think it's a difficult prospect without reworking immunities. If they add a synergy which reduces immunities X amount, it could make a lot more builds feasible.

As it stands right now, there's certain builds for certain areas, and nothing else really works for them efficiently. I'd like to see a lot more variety.
