Opened my ports and it’s a ghost town. Anyone down to play?
bnet is dead, much easier to find people to play with using devilutionX (no need to open ports or any other voodoo)
I know you one of the authors of DevilutionX. And I ask anyway. Are there is some else ways to play online? Official still alive but empty. DevilutionX alive and not empty. Did it MOST alived way to play? I know you want and try promote it. Did that work? Or did that only one way at all?

I mean. There is some offline mods. And maybe some online too? And main point, there is Devilution. Your project is forked from "forked". Did old project have online features and what you think how many ppl can be there? Or in any else projects/ways to play.
Can you say you succeed promoting DevilutionX as best way and did you reach most populated goal? War2ru for Warcraft 2 nowadays really achieve that goal and have waaay more random ppl to play than official Bnet. As I get it there is war2com alternative mentioned on forums. I don't think they more populated.
BTW, official Bnet for War2 is almost died after GOG release. A bit later with unavailability of servers, same for Diablo 1. Before GOG release War2 bnet have more players than war2ru, opposite to what they say on community resources.

Diablo is a game where more important to make a party first. Less ppl ready to play waiting in Lobby for randoms.
So although I did not check D1 here since first release, I'm sure there is 0-1 online on Bnet. I agreed DevilutionX is better way to find random coop. Did it best way for that? I accept any answer as it was said by player (neutrality).
There is no alternatives at all? Others fan made Projects and older Devilution are offline mods and everyone already play DevilutionX? I ask cause I'm somewhere few years back from now in community things.

Your message/question isn't super clear to me. There are other ways to play online, like Tchernobog, and alternative networks. But from what I have seen DevilutionX is both the easiest, has the most players sticks closest to the original gameplay.

DevilutionX never had a goal of being the most populated, just to work well and remains faithful to the original gameplay.

It's worth noting that Battle.net is often down, which could contribute to its low player count. Additionally, DevilutionX does not currently have a lobby, but there is a Discord chat that many people use instead.

QWEEDDYZ: I know you're one of the authors of DevilutionX, but I'm curious if there are any other ways to play online. The official method is still available but empty, while DevilutionX is active and populated. Is it the best option available, or are there other alternatives?

To clarify, are there any offline or online mods available? And what about the original Devilution project - did it have online features, and how many players are still using it? Are there any other projects or ways to play Diablo that I'm not aware of?
I think you are confused about how Devilution fits in to things. It's no relevant for players, it's a tool for being able to improve things. I will produce an exe identical to the original so there is no point in doing so.

QWEEDDYZ: Can you say whether you've been successful in promoting DevilutionX as the best way to play, and have you achieved your goal of having the most players? For example, War2ru for Warcraft 2 has managed to achieve that goal and has far more players than the official Bnet. I've seen mentions of a war2com alternative on forums, but I don't think it's more popular.
Like I said, that isn't a specific goal, but more players appear to be using DevilutionX for multiplayer then Bnet.

QWEEDDYZ: Interestingly, the official Bnet for War2 almost died after the GOG release, and the same thing happened for Diablo 1 when servers became unavailable. Before the GOG release, War2 Bnet actually had more players than war2ru, which is opposite to what the community resources suggest.

Diablo is a game where it's crucial to form a party first, and there are usually fewer people waiting in the lobby for random players. Although I haven't checked D1 since its first release, I'm sure there are only 0-1 players online on Bnet. I agree that DevilutionX is a better way to find random coop players, but is it the best option for that? I'm open to any neutral answer.
It's unclear what kind of answer you would accept.

Are there any alternatives at all? Are other fan-made projects or older Devilution mods still being used, or has everyone migrated to DevilutionX? I'm asking because I'm a bit behind on community matters.
Again Devilution is not a mod as that was never the point of that project. DevilutionX is the project for making something for players.

Some more chatGPT stuff:

There are a few hints that could suggest the author's native language is Russian:

- The use of the word "alived" instead of "alive" in the original message is a grammatical mistake that is common among Russian speakers learning English.
- The use of the phrase "I mean" to introduce a new point is common in Russian speech patterns and is often directly translated from the Russian phrase "имею в виду".
- The use of the word "mods" to refer to modifications or versions of a game is a common gaming term in English, but it's possible that the author is translating this directly from the Russian word "модификации", which is also commonly used in Russian gaming communities.
- The use of the word "randoms" to refer to random players is a term that is often used in gaming communities in Russia and other Eastern European countries.
- The use of the word "ppl" instead of "people" is a common abbreviation used in text messaging and online communication in many languages, including Russian.

This might be concerning:

I would like to buy Diablo 2 Resurrected, but if Battle.net is often down then that might just be an exercise in frustration since you have to download the Battle.net client and be online to play even single player. Would I be wasting my money if I bought Diablo 2 Resurrected? Or am I misunderstanding which bnet we're talking about here?

D1 kind of has it's own bnet, I wouldn't expect it to behave like this in other blizzard games because that'd sound unacceptable but then I'm not playing d2 and not planning to ever give blizzard a single $ after years of treating their playerbase like crap :)

Diablo 1, StarCraft 1 and WarCraft 2 are on legacy Bnet 1.0, the other games are on Bnet 2.0 which is still maintained so things are much better there.
Okay. Thanks.
