here is how it works: when the search scroll is equipped in the spell and scroll slot on the right, removing anything from anywhere in the inventory, removes it from the spell and scroll slot. i have tested it well. it happens every time, even when starting a new game. i tried to start a new game and the buy a search scroll and equip it. the moment i changed my equipment, it was unequipped. not only that but, moving any item in the inventory unequips it.
