I'm playing diablo + hellfire and it all seems to work fine except for the hotkeys.
When I push 1-8 it does not use the items on my belt. Instead they're on my numpad. If I press the num lock key, they still are not mapped to the numbers on the main keyboard and it simply disables the numpad hotkeys.

I have an AZERTY keyboard but I doubt it has anything to do with it. I played diablo with belt hotkeys successfuly with the hotkeys in the past.

I'm probably overlooking something basic.. But please help yours truly to stop dying in stupid ways. Thanks. :)

Ok, it looks like I was a bit too quick as I found the solution. It has to do with keyboard layout indeed. I changed it to QWERTY in windows and the belt hotkeys are working fine now.

Maybe GOG should add support for non-qwerty keyboards. Just gonna leave this topic here for people with the same problem.

Keyboard layout can be changed in windows in the language settings. But don't forget to change it back to native keyboard after you exit Diablo or you'll be typing gibberish on this forum. ;-) ;-)

Got kinda the similar issue. When I start Windows 10 and I start Hellfire through GOG everything works fine. However, in case I exit the game and then run it again, all of the hotkeys (including "c", "i", "s" etc.) don't seem to work. Like, I tried numerous time to run the game again, without the GOG menu that pops up, and I still get the same issue. My keyboard is always on English QWERTY, but only rebooting the computer seems to work. Any clue?

Oh, and also. Since I bought the package including Original Diablo and Hellfire, it only happens when I'm playing Hellfire. In the Original Diablo game, the hotkeys seems to work fine no matter how many times I run it.

DevitlutionX isn't a mod but modernized version of the original game driven by diablo enthusiasts community. It's based on the reversed engineered original source and has a lot of bugfixes, new features and upgrades that don't change the core of the game. No one is paid to promote it, just people are being helpful.

I fail to see the need to "not mod" a game that is over 20 years old and works just fine with Hellfire 1.03 patch (I used a trainer for some parts, but other than that, I'm quite satisfied with the way it is). Plus, D2 remaster is coming out this year. Double plus, D4 will be coming next year of 2023 (they already said it will come out before 2024). So... what's the point?

Well, other people aren't satisfied with the way it is. And thus, have put some time to change things. There is an old Russian saying "На вкус и цвет товарища нет", which would roughly mean as 'on the topic of taste and colour you won't find similar viewpoints.

Both my threads address both Diablo 4 and Diablo 2 Remastered. No one has been able to address the concerns, pass them onto the annoying, useless devs, or beat me in an argument in either thread..

I know that saying, Russian is my mother tongue. However it barely applies here as modding a 20-ish-year-old game fits more into Чем бы дитя не тешилось category, for my senses.
I do solemnly hope you get some prison time for calling Blizzard "annoying, useless devs". This company merits a Hollywood Walk of Fame tile for its effort to gaming industry in general.
