Grabbed this since it was only 4 dollars to have a crack at running it on my toaster, turns out it will run on an OpenGL2.1 machine if you set MESA_GL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=3.3 and MESA_GLSL_VERSION_OVERRIDE=330 (note this is for Linux so it'll be different for Windows). It runs smoothly at the menu and initially in-game but then starts to stutter something fierce when things die (enough to make the game unplayable so if you buy it based on this post don't whine at me). Not sure if that's due to forcing the version or my hardware though, so you could give it a shot and see how it goes.
