I'm locked out of progressing in the last mission (Area 51 sector 4) and I cannot understand why. This is right after killing the grays in the room where you shut off the environment generators and Morgan and Alex talk to you about getting through the plasma shield.

But why can't I get through this door? Every guide I've look at doesn't describe this. The field is supposed to be around Page, not locking me out this far out.

I'm so confused.

Have you deactivated all four Blue Fusion Reactors, as Morgan had told you to do?

No this is still the start of the last mission. I imagine the Blue Fusion Reactors are just past this door.

Dang. I see it now.

This is probably the worst gameplay element in the game. Just as you get to that door Alex says you need to disable the field and sends you an image of the 'blue fusion reactor' which is completely different. And its not immediately obvious that the blue neon strip coming out of the wall is connected to a 'node' that you can interact with. Really weird design element.

It looks like this was added in the goty edition or its a change made by the gmdx mod.

Just going to pop in here really quick to say that I am almost certain that node thingy was added by the GMDX mod. I've played the GOTY version many times, and I don't remember ever having to disable that field until the last time I played the game, when I used the GMDX mod. I was rather confused on that bit, too, and I can't say I understand why that was added.

I'm glad you were able to figure it out, though.
