I remember about a year ago I had to jump through some hoops to get this to run and look good (I tweaked it so that the game supported widescreen) on Windows 7. I have always loved this game so I'm wondering: Can I buy the GoG version and have it run "out of the box" on Windows 7? Thanks!

Yes.
Though you might want to do some tweaks to it as it won't support high resolution out of the box.

this is a wondeful custom launcher that lets you tweak resolution, FOV and other things. I haven't personally used it with the GOG version, but it should work fine. Not sure how many of the fixes GOG has included, like the CPU speed fix.. Anyway, this is the easiest way to get it going.
