Hey all.
I'm having this issue installing Deus Ex: GOTY onto my computer. Now, I'll acknowledge that I'm playing on a Mac, and Deus Ex is for Windows. Yes, this is all true. But I have a Wineskin wrapper for Deus Ex and I've done the same for System Shock 2 (which I've purchased from GOG, as well, and works perfectly).
So, when I download from the installer (or without), I get the setup_deus_ex.exe file. That's what I would expect, until I actually open that file. Wine automatically opens it (which I assume it did with System Shock, but I can't remember), and installs the files. What it installs, however, isn't Deus Ex. It's this small indie game called Maze (a scary dungeon game). I've had that game already installed, but it didn't work. Now it does; glitchy, but it works. And it only works now because the Deus Ex wrapper is opening it.
So my problem is obvious: Why does the Deus Ex setup.exe file install Maze? Is it something that Wine is mixing up before I launched the setup file? Is it something my Mac is messing up in reading the .exe file and grabbing the wrong directory or something? Do I know what I'm even talking about? Honestly, I'm not the greatest when it comes to dealing with computers, but I'd consider myself savvy. But this is hard to figure out.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to return it. I have never played it and I hear only great things about it. The same goes for System Shock 2, and that game is seriously one of the best games I've played in quite a while.
Thanks you all.
