I have the game set up to resolution 1280x720. That is the lowest resolution I can have that will still allow the game to be wide screen. However, the HUD and text is too small for my eyes. Is there a way to scale it up somehow? Or can I set custom smaller resolution (that is still 16:9) to force the scaling?

Oh, by the way, I'm talking about the first Deus Ex game.

I strongly recommend you use Kentie's launcher no matter what you are going to do with Deus Ex. Among other things it lets you set up any resolution and FOV you want. It also includes a HUD fix that should be just the thing you are looking for.

The HUD fix included in Kentie's mod does not work for me. When I check the box, no matter what the widescreen resolution or renderer combination, it makes absolutely no difference. Is it a bug, or am I missing something simple?

I'm on a Windows 8.1 PC which utilises Intel HD graphics.

My native resolution is 1600x900.

So far, the only benefit I've noticed with Kentie's launcher is the FOV for widescreen is indeed corrected. All I need now is a bigger HUD/GUI.

If I can't get achieve this through the Kentie method, does anyone then know of an alternative fix or mod, please?

I believe I already have the HUD fix included in the launcher. And just like RetroCodger426, it doesn't seem to work for me as well.
Huh, look at that. I just booted up the game again and the fix doesn't seem to turn off any longer. I know that it did at one time! Kentie has also removed information about the fix from his Deus Exe article. In fact he removed pretty much all information a couple of months ago.

The fix is actually supposed to do the opposite of what we want, as the UI used to scale up as you raised the resolution. The fix would instead prevent it from stretching and pixelating at higher resolutions. Perhaps it is permanently turned on in the current launcher version?
Ah I see.. Thanks:)

So it seems that with this latest build of his launcher there is no way to fix the tiny text problem?
If that's the case, the solution seems to be to download an older version of the launcher.

**edit**. I've tried a few random older versions of the launcher: v6, 5.3, 5,4,3 and v1.
I ran the game in both 1440x900 and 1600x900 resolution and tried checking and unchecking the GUI box in the launcher...

Ha ha, you're not going to believe this; again it had no effect!
I give up. I'll try to find a lower-res widescreen mode with a decent sized GUI, or failing that, I'll go 4:3 with black borders either side of the screen.

I can put up with that as the game is so engrossing anyway, I'm sure I won't notice after a while.

SheduSurashu, here is the link for the old versions of the launcher if you want to try them for yourself. Maybe you might have more luck?

Nevermind, I misunderstood the question.

One year later, has anyone found a solution for this problem? This is really bugging me. I'm playing wide screen and I can't read anything with the HUD and text being so small.
Nevermind I've learned to live with it.
Solution

Open DeusEx.ini and change

Root=otpUIfix.otpRootWindow

to

Root=DeusEx.DeusExRootWindow
