Coming soon: v8.0 RELEASE DATE: DEC 7th 2015.

GMDX is an award-winning large-scale modification for the 2000 PC classic Deus Ex. GMDX addresses the many flaws of the game, polishes it to a very high standard, and adds new layers of depth that one would have hoped to see in a sequel. GMDX is executed with the strict parameter of staying true to the original design principles that define Deus Ex, and seeks to improve all aspects of design excluding the plot and soundtrack. The cumulative result is said to be the "definitive Deus Ex experience".

As a huge fan of this mod, I decided to start a mod discussion thread on this page in order to let the DX fans know about this [ underred ] mod. Currently, not enough people [ esp. DX fans ] know about this mod and as such I find it really disappointing to see that the efforts of the creator and his work are not reaching to many players as it deserves to be taken more seriously and worth playing to keep this game alive, and in turn, the motivation within the creator to encourage him in giving as much improvements as possible to make DX shine.
So, I request all my fellow GOG members and DX fans to take some time out, and at least, try playing it, and if you enjoyed it, then forward this mod to others by encouraging them to try as well.
Thank You.
Remember, the latest version is coming very soon. So, wait for version 8 in offer to try it put. :)
Thanks, following it now!
Could you perhaps point out the major differences from the Revision Mod?
I've learned from a video that you e.g. can customize the prod in some ways, but I'm not sure if that's a feature having been missed by DX players?!

The mod author has a YT channel. He keeps releasing videos explaining what the new version of the mod is gonna be about. Maybe that'll help you.

I am definitely interested. My next run through the game is gonna be with the Revision mod, but the one after that is gonna be with GMDX.

That this is actually a good mod! :P But seriously, the difference is that GMDX focuses on bringing more depth and polish to the gameplay and mechanical systems while striving to be true to Looking Glass Studios/ Ion Storm's design principles. Revision is basically a reimagining of Deus Ex where they reworked the levels based on their vision.

Do watch all the videos linked in the above post to get the idea.

I would suggest going straight for the GMDX run. Though Revision may be good for you if you merely want to play a reimagining of Deus Ex and some good looking places.

GMDX is what I thought Revision would've been like. Nothing it does feels unnecessary, and everything rather enhances the original game as opposed to Revision's reimagining route.

One could actually play their first run with this mod if they really wanted to, I would say. Most of this is either quality of life, straight improvement, or bugfixes. In a way, it's kind of like the same debate one would run into about Baldur's Gate 1 in TuTu/Trilogy/Enhanced Edition. Heck, they even gave attention to how easier difficulty modes work.

This looks like a very good mod (and might actually convince me to play through the whole game (I've been distracted by a lot of other games)).

I just have one question. I heard that it's incompatible with the updated executable (Deus Exe) and Kentie's Direct3D 10 renderer. Can anyone confirm this? That's pretty much the only thing stopping me from installing it.

Thanks for that. I've been looking everywhere for a comparison of DX: Revision vs. GMDX. In that case I will start out with GMDX first. Hopefully by the time I get back around to playing the original DX again they will have released a version of Revision that is compatible with the GOG version.

Did they change some of the keycodes to doors?
Fantastic mod!

Thanks for the heads up.
I discovered this mod a while back. It's awesome. Much better then that stupid revision mod or whatever they call it.
