darthspudius: Nice, I might give it a try. Question, why the insults to the Steam users? Isn't that a little bit beyond immature?
avatar
Zoidberg: Have you read what "steam users" say about this issue?

Also, would be nice to have a sticky exlaining how to get this to work with non-steam versions (gog, retail, etc...).
Nope and can't say I care. But it's abit silly to complain about a dickish Steam community and then act like a dick themselves.

MrTrigun: Guys...my post from ModDB page:

"Ha-haaa...IT WORKS..IT F***ING WORKS (music as well)...SCREW STEAM :D :D
Folks and I mean CD/GOG version owners (eff u steam fanboys)..use the standalone installer and ignore steam at the end.
Then download Kentie's launcher, extract it into your Deus Ex/System.
Make a copy of the Deusex.exe and rename it to Revision.exe
Now run the Revision.exe..configure it how you see fit...and finally in Data Directories make sure to check everything..you can uncheck BioMod and/or Shifter if you don't want to play with them.
..and that's it. have fun. :D"

..can't post links..google the Kentie's launcher
It seems I can't rename the exe and when I try to launch it I get an error popup:
"The program can't start because MSVCP140.dll is missing..."

Ignore this, I either forgot to install the redist or some messing up with renaming files: the launcher launches...

edit: ok, cool, seems to work. But only with the default d3d 9, doesn't work with the other, is this normal? Cheers.

Is there any good videos showing it off?
So, links:

This is just ridiculous. Thanks for finding out how to make it work, guys.
Thanks to all the people who got it working on the non-Steam versions.

I had hard night sleep today after this nasty surprise.
Then saw new morning that people found the way, and saved the day.
You're great people and you should know that.

I hope the creators of the mod meet same persons like themselves irl and see how is it to be a liar.
Then work in the industry. Good riddance.

Does anyone here know what the makers of the bundled mods (Shifter, New Vision, etc.) think about this development? They might have some thoughts on DRM, platform exclusivity, etc. I wonder if they were consulted.
It keeps crashing on me when it tries to load the Liberty Island map. This is what I did:
- Removed Deus Ex, completely. Uninstalled everything, and deleted the residual DeusEx folder in both Program Files and Documents.
- Reinstalled vanilla Deus ex.
- Applied the 1.112fm patch.
- Installed Revision.
- Applied Kentie's exe.

I can run the game, but it always crash after the opening, saying that it ran out of virtual memory. Googling that, I found that it some kind of bug common to complex Deus Ex mods.
Any suggestions?
Tried it already, it launch.
Have Win7 64bit and recent version of Kentle's files doesn't work (v7). Then I used the one for Win XP (v5.3) and it work.
Might check previous versions.
Already skipped training.

Same thing. Crash at the New Game.

Did your HDD also went crazy when trying to load Liberty Island?

Surprisingly - not that much. Just basic reminder "you should jump to the SSD ship already you [redacted]".
Nothing that defrag software can't fix.

I found that reason was one of the textures pack - either HDTP or New Vision.
Unchecked them in the launcher and game launched without issue. Talked to Paul, bashed doors in the shack on the seashore, where my boat is and was spotted by first NSF mook.
First impression - it's pitch black dark.

Looks like my PC can't handle New Vision + HDTP running simultaneously. Hence - crash with "run out of memory".
I hope it's caused by HDTP (models looks ugly even with sharp textures), NV looks too cool to ignore.
New maps + Biomod (throwing melee weapons) + New Vision is too good to avoid.
Yeah, throwing melee weapons constantly ruin my nonlethal playthroughs, too much fun.

Found somewhere in the modding thread
"What about the Direct x 10 renderer and new vision? I'm under the impression that that REQUIRES the use of the openGL renderer. (it says so on the website)"
Interesting.

So....seems like they put the UnrealEngine out of his limit but also computers, that run better looking stuff/ more bloated with files than this.

Yep, switching to OpenGL made the game run smoother on my laptop.

This works. It worked for me with New vision, but... the menus have a huge lag, loading times are obscene, and my HDD is begging me to kill him.
I think is safe to assume that while it works, the original Revision exe is optimized for the mod, and Kentie's isn't.
A mod like this shouldn't bring my GeForce660 to its knees.
Did anyone find a way to revert back to the original soundtrack?
