Whenever I launch the game (no matter if there're compatibility settings, rendering differences, gpu scaling etc) a black box appears and just stays black. Sometimes there are white inclusions in the black box. Nothing happens no sound either.

I tried running safe mode and it only works... if I use no sound + no 3d sound options O_O Now I have a fully working sound card that was working before just right with this game and nothing was changed and there are no issues with any other game in the world O_O I tried tweaking various sound settings, as little as there are of them but nothing helped. Reinstalled sound driver and nothing helped either. I also tried installing new video driver, changing various other settings but nothing helps. Also tried deleted any deus ex files I could find (in my documents for example )before reinstalling but that didn't help either.

I am highly mindfucked because there are usually no issue with games and PC overall that I couldn't solve. I worked at IT support too. I am hoping perhaps this is a known issue with a known solution?

Now I've found the solution. I have installed DeusExe again as I have before and nuchecked Directsound. Game launched perfectly!

Does anyone have any idea why this happened? I mean I have reinstalled DX before and it didnt work until I installed DeusExe again and unchecked it. My sound card is Omega Claro II, I use unofficial Xonar Unified drivers.
