Hello there, kind people of GOG.com / THQ Nordic

First I'd like to express my gratitude for having one of my all-time favorites updated for modern systems, I'm especially happy for the demo level which is great and ties in nicely with the main adventure. (I had the demo installed on my PC together with the earlier GOG release of this game, but I'm grateful nonetheless.)

However I'm experiencing problems which so far have prevented me from playing this new version:
1) Initially it was missing msvcp120.dll, I searched for it online and downloaded it into the main folder of the game
2) Then I got another error message telling me the game failed to start correctly because of code 0xc000007b (see the attached image)

I tried a number of suggestions I found online (restarting the computer, reinstalling Visual C++ Redistributables), but none of them worked for me. It's mildly annoying as the pevious release at least worked somewhat reliably on my computer running Win7 x64 (with occasional freezes where only killing the task helped, but I could still finish the game) and it also had a nice fan-made widescreen patch. I still have that installer saved on an external hard drive, but I'd prefer if I could somehow make this one function properly.

My computer is a Lenovo ThinkPad T420 laptop with an Intel Core i5-2540M processor running @ 2.60GHz, 8GBs of RAM and an integrated Intel HD 3000 graphics card, running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit with all the latest updates installed.

Any and all help is appreciated!

Hello,

First make sure you remove any downloaded msvc*.dll from the game's directory. It's recommended not to download these files one by one from the net, especially as if the 32 and 64 bit versions get mixed up, they'll cause this exact behavior.

So delete the dll files you've downloaded, and then install the visual studio 2013 redistributable libraries from https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=40784, press download, and you'll need the vcredist_x86.exe version. (Installing both that and the x64 version is okay too, it will not cause any problems if you prefer to have both)

Hello,

That seems to have solved it. Initially I installed the 64-bit redistributable package assuming it has to match the operating system and not the game, but in hindsight it seems rather logical that it's the latter case.

Köszönöm, Balázs! :)
It may seem logical, but i always thought it's rather unintuitive for the end user and should be named less ambiguously. I'm glad it worked!

nincs mit :)
