Just wondering if anyone else has had an issue with the game locking up during the tutorial. I can hear a sound looping, and the game shows 'Not Responding' in Task manager. It was running fine until it started the conversation at the knife throwing booth.

System Specs:
Intel i7
6 Gb RAM
Soundblaster X-Fi
Windows 7 x64

I suppose this may be a CPU affinity issue, but I'd welcome any thoughts on the matter.
It shouldn't be a processor affinity issue, I didn't have a lock up at any point. But, I'm using XP with a dual core AMD chip, if you're using an Intel Chip on Windows 7, that could be a very different result.

I have set the launcher (Desperados.exe) to be uni-processor. Thus far, it hasn't locked up again, but honestly I have not put a lot more time into it.. So, it may happen again.

Sounded more like a soundblaster issue to me - but if its working now then great - check your IRQ settings if it happens again
I've had the same issue, total freeze after a half hour of playing. I tried setting for XP compatibility but it still froze.

I tried setting affinity for one processor as well, so i'll update once I've played more.

The crap thing is that the freeze is so complete I have to do a hard reboot to recover.

Edit: I did get more play by putting affinity on one CPU, but it still crashed after an hour or so.

The crashing occurs completely random, there's another thread about the issue. So far the problem seems to be sound-related, since it only happens when someone is about to say something and it's often accompanied with looping voice. It didn't happen to me until Kate's training mission, but since then it caused me a lot of headache. Nevertheless I managed to get to Mission 19 and I won't give up there, because this game is one of my all-time favorites.

I found only one reliable "solution": save often and when it happens, bring up the task manager and kill the process (usually the cursor doesn't react to mouse movements, so you have to find another way to deal with it), then restart the game, load your previously saved progress, continue from there and strongly hope it won't happen again. (It never happened twice at the very same spot for me, but then again, it never ever happened on my old PC and I must have finished it at least 5 times...)
