My internet connection is slow so i downloaded the files elsewhere when the game came out and used the offline installer.

So far the gog galacy client hasn't downloaded an update and the offline downloader still offers only a complete download of the file. Why isn't there a) the possibility to update games on the fly that where installed using offline install packages b) a patch file that only serves the differences to the original file to be faster?

That is a thing GOG does with the offline installer for many games, the "download the whole package again" every time
a patch comes out.
While for smaller games this seems fine it can become a problem with bigger games.
As far as i know if there is no small patch file awailable under the "Offline Installer" section of the website
you have to download the whole game again.

You could also ask in the german forum if anyone can help

My comment might be a bit useless since I don't have the new Desperados game, but most games I have here use a patch to update games from small changes to the new version instead of a full download.
So I'm not sure if GOG is the one to blame here, to me it sounds more like something the game developer should do.
