Just gave it a shot, and getting 2fps at 640x480 with all the render and effects options at minimum.

Googled this topic: http://www.planetdescent.net/index.php?action=printpage;topic=671.0 which seems to indicate this type of thing would be fixed, but apparently it never was.

D2X-Rebirth works great though - at least for the most part. If I play at high resolutions like 1920x1080 it feels as if the framerate drops below 20, even though both Fraps and the in-game fps counter report 80+ fps. More or less smooth at 1360x768 though.

Unfortunately it also has a similar problem to other OpenGL games where it's simply too dark in places - the Intel 4500mhd card, or the drivers, must not support gamma properly.

I have an Intel 945GM in my laptop, and I don't have any trouble with D2X-XL, aside from a weird control issue where my bank axis seems to default to a 90-degree-left tilt.
Last I checked, D2X-XL was unplayable on Intel's 965gm. I checked about two months ago, and at that point, the programmer HAD claimed to have fixed the issue. He was wrong.

Similarly, Rebirth works perfectly.
