All I saw when responding was Halcyon's post. We must have been posting at the same time. So no, I didn't have to have the last say.

Which makes your reaction another case of wrong assumptions and hasted reaction.

"Classy" people ask back before drawing conclusions and making judgements.

It is people acting like that who ruin the Descent community, not people like me. People who act rash, who cannot be corrected, who cannot take being criticized, who always want to be right, who prefer lies over the embarassment of having to face the truth of simple facts.

Sorry that your thread has been ruined. That certainly wasn't my plan. But if my offering a forum and several trackers on Sourceforge.net for D2X-XL support isn't enough, and people still prefer to rant somewhere else instead, there's nothing I can do about it. You cannot seriously expect me to let others hurl crap at me publicly. I have had that too often.

Actually Halcyon's last exit had been my response to his first complaint when I had asked him to seek help in my forum instead of ranting here. He didn't use it. Not my fault. I had asked him politely to let this issue rest now when he finally showed up in my forum, but he chose not to - just like he chose to continue this here. Not my fault as well.

If I was you I'd approach a forum mod and ask him to delete or at least split all the OT posts here off. They really shouldn't have a place here. I have contacted the GoG staff on this behalf. You may want to support that request.

The following PM was sent to Halcyon on my forum after this issue had gotten out of hand already.
I don't like your tone, that's all.

Since you are so ... persistent, I will say a bit more.

You started to rant around on GoG.com, posting complete nonsense in public just because something went wrong for you. When I told you that you were wrong, instead of backing up, you kept pointing fingers at me in a way.

You keep on ranting about "pissing contests" here, failing to see that the post you were referring to was at least a year old, if not older.

Next you post several screen pages of stuff here when I had already told you on GoG.com and on Sourceforge.net what I needed to be able to determine the root of your problem, and that is some hardware equivalent to yours. There is nobody who could add anything to what I have said, since I am by the nature of the matter the ultimate technical authority in all things D2X-XL.

There is no way you could compare D2X-XL with Rebirth. All the bells and whistles come at a price, and that price are lots of shader programs, rendering to textures, usage of vertex buffer objects and texture arrays, depth buffer reads, etc. etc., and that is something Intel graphics hardware was never good at. You are trying to play games on an office application intended computer that has totally inadequate graphics. D2X-XL. D2X-XL runs well even on the 6 or 7 year computer of my son with an Athlon 64 3500+ and an ATI X850 XT card though, which should give you an indicator of how bad your computer's graphics hardware really is.

I really, really don't like your massively obtrusive way of pushing your problem into my face, and I also don't like it when people (you) don't take responsibility for mistakes they make, be it intentionally or unintentionally, keeping on to say "hey, I didn't want to and I didn't do" when you did - willing or not.

So I recommend you calm down now, because there is nothing you or I could do to further your matter right now.

Instead of letting the matter rest until I would be able to provide a solution, Halcyon kept spamming me with his issue. That's an almost 100% safe method of getting banned from my forum. HalcyonLeuthcorp having an account on my forum for quite a while makes his thread derailment here even less understandable.

God knows I am doing my best to eliminate bugs and weaknesses from the program as fast and as good as I can, but D2X-XL is a private project, and nobody is entitled to a "special treatment" by me or has the right to push me into fixing any problems they might have with D2X-XL asap.
I found my way here because Karx11erx/D2X-XL refused to help me set his mod up because I dared to compare his mod to what he calls "Stillbirth".

Funny that Rebirth runs seamlessly, and his gets 0.16 fps. I guess the proof is in the pudding as to which one is actually better. "

You had to come back here and post your message to me all over again to "Defend" yourself after I caught you in a lie, and to top it off you private message me at Rebirth's forum to "rub it in" that I was still following "your" advice. I was actually a member before your "advice".

Guess what, this slap fight is completely boring to anyone who isn't the two of you. If it got taken to PMs on another forum then why the hell didn't it stay there rather than continuing to drag this thread through the mud? It's not as thought it's relevant or interesting to us, it's just pointless dickwaving in a thread that was SUPPOSED to be informative (and I'd like to thank the OP for that).

does your contribution to this thread make anything better here? You are judging us, yet you are doing the same. Unlike what you suggested, vulgar boy, my point was to make clear that D2X-XL is for free and to help Halcyon. The latter failing and the further deteriorating in a flame war isn't my fault. I wasn't the one ignoring all facts.

This is complete bull. Regardless of how the whole thing started (as far as I can tell it was a result of hilarious overreactions on both your parts), you're the one who decided to bring this argument back to this forum after it had already gone to PMs somewhere else.

To bring this thread back to roots,
I am a major fan of the descent series, and feel that both d2x-xl and dxx-rebirth are great projects. I appreciate the hard work both groups are doing to keep the old games alive. now, if only people would do this for more old games. OMF2097 anyone?
