Hi, there is now another way to play Descent 1 and 2 online but also that it supports DXX-Rebirth and has its own master server and now isn't just for build games anymore. This games network is called YANG (Yet Another Netplay Guider) and supports Windows, Linux, Mac systems and descent maps can be transferred due to changes in the file transfer mechanism.
For more information you can visit the site here http://ny.duke4.net
It currently has 2 different themes a dark theme and a bright theme that can change the way the interface looks.
In the near future we do plan to implement a chat lobby system however you can chat in rooms for now and other things.
Regards
Replica
This is great stuff. Just as easy to use as Kali, I'd dare say. I had a game with a few of my friends last week, the program worked flawlessly. Thank you!
I'll be hosting D1 games from time to time, and it'd be great if some more people would stop by every once in a while.
See you in the mines!
i dont know how to use this. its still confusing for a nub like me. is there a step by step guide somewhere?
YANG v0.90 has been released today :

The most interesting change done for the DXX-Rebirth players, is the updated support for the lastest "D1X-Rebirth" and "D2X-Rebirth" source ports, and also now they will use the YANG game port number (UDP), instead of their own default UDP port number 42424 : you can set the YANG game port number to 42424 if you prefer.

Also, both the Single-Player and Multiplayer dialogs have been rewritten : now, there will be a tab for each of the main games supported by YANG (a tab will only appear if you have selected at least one source port for this main game), allowing to only display the relevant options for each of the main games, and also, now each of the settings/options will be saved separately between each of the main games.

Another major change is the added support for any DOS game (by using DOSBox) : you can create custom DOS game profiles, in the new "Custom DOS games" tab, located in the menu "Settings -> Source ports" dialog.

This is just a summary of the main changes done for this new YANG version : for much more informations, be sure to also read the full changelog on the main YANG web site @ http://yang-online.com
We should try to avoid different programs to play D1/2 on. Kali has been around since D1 and it's always been the hub for Descent. www.kali.net You can get a trial version or buy it for like 10$ and it's also good for other games. 99% of the players who still play D1/2 are on the Descent server in Kali.
