Hey, I just downloaded Descent 3 and the v.1.4 patch(and installed it), but whenever I hit play, the launcher freezes and the game doesn't start. I'm running it in Windows XP Service Pack 2 compatibility mode (previously even the launcher didn't work), I have Windows 7 Home Premium and an NVIDIA GEforce 6800m gts graphics card. Help?

Gogs version should have already been patched to the latest official version. Did you attempt to run the game before patching it? If not uninstall it and just install gogs version of the game without any extra patches to start with.

Yeah, I tried it unpatched first and had the launch menu problem. I've actually just got it working, though, by trying different compatibility modes. Windows set XP compatibility mode by default, but the game actually works with 98 compatibility. Hopefully I have no more issues! :) If something else crops up, I'll reinstall it unpatched.

Hello everyone,

I've just installed Descent 3 in Windows 7 (64), it freezes after clicking play in the launcher. Problem persists when selecting comptability mode windows 98.

Any suggestions on resolving this issue?

I get an error code of "Error:SetCoopLevel EXCULUSIVE failed"
