hi guys, im sadly having a problem getting descent 1 and 2 to run multiplayer for me using yang (hamachi is way to complicated for me, and kali you have to play).
so im wondering, since this game isnt THAT old, can you get the multiplayer to run with a friend right out of the box (not using Vortex as suggested by a thread) or do you again HAVE to use outside tool?
does descent 3 have standard coop (i.e. playing through teh singleplayer with a friend)
thanks for any comments.

You're asking about D3 I assume.
You can go here: http://d3.descent.cx/tracker.d3
Click on the IP address (under LAUNCH) of the game you want to join.
Then, setup the options, shouldn't be all that bad. I'd launch via EXE, though if you're having issues the BAT file should work.
Still, Vortex is by FAR the easiest way to set up and play D3 online, as Kali to D1/2.
I'm not sure about standard, direct multiplayer. Before PXO went down you probably could've played with your friend no problem, but now I'm not so sure. Maybe the guys at descentbb.net will have some insight?
EDIT: Yes, they do. http://www.descentbb.net/viewtopic.php?t=4953
