I get tons of weird graphical artifacts in this game on my computer. I tried changing the resolution and even applying that 1.5 patch but it still looks the same. I can't even get the game to boot up in Opengl so I can't try that. Are there any command line options that could fix this or anything else I could try?
Is this an intergrated video card? Have you tried updating your video drivers?
Yes it's integrated. Yes I have updated the drivers of the card.
Edit: I thought I would include screenshots

Sadly you are king od SOL. Intergrated graphics were never meant to play games on. You'd be best to buy a seperate even cheap video card.

Try this Glide->Direct3D wrapper and run the game in Glide mode: http://www.zeus-software.com/downloads/nglide
Ideally though, you should pick up a gfx card. Any old 2nd hand Radeon should do.

I installed the wrapper. It goes through the two intro movies but then crashes saying that it "Could not open the default SST." Does anyone know what that means?
Edit: Okay I downloaded a dll file named glide2x.dll which got GLQuake to run using glide. I decided to also try this with Descent 3 so I put it in the directory but got another error message. This time I got "Memmap Vxd Initialization Failed" and then after that "Glide Initialization Failed." Are there any other additional files I may need to download to get this to work?
edit: Now I've experimented with glide3x.dll but that didn't work either. I've noticed also that if I have glide2x.dll in the directory, the autosetup will not detect the glide drivers. Once I remove the file, the setup will detect glide as before.
edit: Okay I tried doing that Microsoft Application Compatibility Toolkit fix but it I get the same SST error. I execute the install bat file and don't receive any errors so I'm assuming that it's working? Don't know what to do.

Hi .. sorry to hop on board this thread, but for some reason it won't let me create a new thread .. :\
In any case, my question is right on topic with this thread, so .. whatever ..
I'm trying to run D3 on Win XP, with an ATI Radeon 9200 SE, and it's coming up with some graphic glitches that look very similar to the OP showed above. I'd have to call it "stripping" in the menus, and in gameplay, the crosshairs are "squashed" (top-bottom" ... so wide and thin ..
I've seen mention of "try running it in glide mode" or such .. how do you do that? I'm not fully understanding yet the other options here.
I've got the lastest drivers I know of, 6.14.10.6462
How does this glide option work everyone talks about? (including OP in this thread?)
[edit]
*sigh* .. go figure, after posting this, apparently new thread works fine now ... arrrggh ...
well, if this seems too much of a hijack, let me know, I'll (try to) create a new thread .. :)

Actually, finally followed this link and tried it, works like a charm! No more glitches .. runs nice and smooth!
Thanks for the link .. (I should have been braver and followed it in the first place .. :)
Hey guys, I know this thread was a while back, but I am getting the same error message that Xenphor was getting, the default SST thing. Does anyone now know what is happening?
