Running Descent 3 on Vista 64 bit. I have one of those wide-screen monitors (not sure of the size, but pretty big). The problem is that Descent 3 runs maximized (I can't get it into normal windowed mode) shifted about 2-3 inches to the left. So, the left part of the game is missing, and there's thick black border on the extreme right.
Tried different compatibility options with no luck.
Any ideas about how to fix this?

Hi,

Have you tried changing resolutions ?

During gameplay hit F1 and that should show you other key functions including one to 'options' where you can change the resolution.

Thanks. I didn't know you could change resolution from the game itself. And for some reason I have to hit TAB to confirm the choice. Seems like a very strange idea.
All the screens except the actual in-game screen is still strangely shifted, but as long as I can play I guess I'll be happy with it :)
The default controls seem to be horrendous. I guess my next job is figuring out a good control scheme.
Thanks again!

Glad i could help. Have fun :)

What don't you like? Personally, I move it down one row, so I get this:
SZXC - slide - directions
AD - bank
LShift - Accelerate
LCtrl - Reverse
F - Flare (default)
G - Afterburner (this is a little reach, but I figure you use it more deliberately than some)
Arrows - pitch, turn (default)
RCtrl, Space - primary & secondary (default)
Though I use a mouse most of the time, with wheel up = primary select and wheel down = secondary select, as well as primary, secondary, and countermeasures on buttons 1,2, and 3
You can actually set your own resolution and aspect ratio's in descent 3.

Yes, I've tried this. However, it doesn't seem to make any difference. The screen doesn't resize at all and it's still shifted off to the left. Might be an issue with Vista and compatibility.
Box: Thanks for that configuration. I'll test it out!
