I'm a Descent 1 purist and the guide bot in Descent 2 is getting on my nerves - I've never had any real problem navigating levels and I'd rather explore the level in my own way at my pace rather than be hassled by the bot to get the next key,
I'm using Descent 2 Rebirth if that helps.
Thanks in advance.

In the list of commands for guidebot should be a command to stay away (I'm pretty sure its command 7). I was the same way and I never used the guidebot and when you tell him to stay away he will leave u alone and you will never come across him except on some rare occasions if u come to the place where he is hiding from you but he'll just run away.
Thanks, I'll try that next time I play.
Why don't you simply leave it in its cage?
sometimes the cage has secret doors containing stuff like homing missles, cloak and in one lvl, invincibility so its good to check his cage
