Okay, these problems are really eating me alive. First, Descent 1 crashed on launching in Vista. But, now that I have everything safely ensconsced inside of Boxer, the SECOND Descent game now won't run, claiming that it needs to see the CD! AAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH!!!!!
And yes, GOG team, I have sent you a support request on the matter with a followup as well.

If you just want to beable to play the games there are 2 mods out that update graphics and get the game to work in windows alot easier.

If you want to play it how it was orginally intended then ignore those 2 mods. Did you by any chance patch or mod decent 2?

Nope, no mods, no nothing. Of course, the *.gog image will need to be mounted (oh how fun).

I'm a little confused are you trying to run the game on windows vista or a mac OS using boxer?

I have D1 and D2 running on my Mac using D2X-XL. You don't need to enable the mods, it's basically just a native port. (Oh yeah, I don't have the GOG versions, I have my old, precious "definitive collection" discs)
Can you get the .hog, .pig (etc) files out of what sounds like a disc image?
What's your hardware?

A Mac OS using Boxer.
