Descent 2 crashes and the screen image looks like it went through a shredder every few minutes. Shortly after the distortion the sound stops and loops and all input devices become frozen. Any idea on how to solve this. I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit and my graphics card in a 280. I hope there's a quick fix. Descent 1 also gets this crash, but its not as frequent and thus still playable.

Have you tried using D1X and D2X Rebirth? Do a google search to find them. If you have, then I'm not sure why this happens.

Thanks for the info, I'll try out D2X. If that doesn't work, I can always try the XP machine and see if an older OS and the 32 bit architecture will alleviate the symptoms..
