I find I prefer real "feel" of the game. I use a wheel for my racing when I first started I was using a stick (1995). There is sooo much more control/feel for the game and immersion than using a simple stick. But it all depends on what you want to get out of the game.

Well, that's great and all, but what exactly would you say creates a "genuine feel" for a space flight sim? You seem to be against sticks and, like you said, wheels are used for racing. Are there spaceflight simulation cockpits available to purchase? :)

I never said I was against sticks. I actually use a Sidewinder 3D pro for Descent. I use a mouse for games like Doom, UT, Half Life etc. I would never consider using a stick for games like that as well as using a mouse for Descent. Just not natural to me
